The strike began last Monday after the committee unanimously resolved that advocates would completely abstain from work in all district courts to protest against the “unjust, unfair, and biased” Advocates (Amendment) Bill 2025.
According to the committee’s resolution, the proposed bill was:
- “Totally against the unity, integrity, and dignity of advocates.”
- “Draconian” and harmful to the autonomy of bar associations and state bar councils.

During the strike, the committee also requested judicial officers not to pass any adverse orders in listed cases, ensuring that litigants were not unfairly affected.
With the government’s assurance of reconsideration, Delhi’s district courts will now function normally from Monday.
