The Delhi High Court has transferred 135 trial court judges in a major reshuffle across the capital.

NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court has ordered the transfer of 135 trial court judges across various district courts in the national capital. The order, issued on Friday, includes several prominent judges who were handling sensitive and high-profile cases.

One of the most notable transfers is that of Additional Sessions Judge Sameer Bajpai of Karkardooma Courts. He was hearing the 2020 Northeast Delhi Riots larger conspiracy case, which has been pending for over four years and is currently at the stage of framing charges. He has now been transferred to Saket Court as a Special Judge (Fast Track Court).

Another key judge, Additional Sessions Judge Pulastya Pramachala, who was also based in Karkardooma Courts and was dealing with murder, arson, and unlawful assembly cases linked to the Delhi Riots, has been shifted to Patiala House Court as a District Judge (Commercial Court).

The reshuffle also affects several other judges involved in important criminal and political cases:

  • Special Judge Niyay Bindu, who had granted bail to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal last year in the Delhi Excise Policy case, has been moved from Rouse Avenue Court to Dwarka Court as Additional Principal Judge (Family Court).
  • Special Judge Sanjeev Aggarwal, who was handling the high-profile VVIP chopper scam case, has been transferred from Rouse Avenue Court to Tis Hazari Court in the role of District Judge (Commercial).
  • District Judge Sanjay Jindal will now be posted at Rouse Avenue Court.
  • Additional Sessions Judge Manisha Khurana Kakkar, who was presiding over the Shraddha Walkar murder trial, has also been transferred, although her new posting location has not been specified.
  • Special Judge Amitabh Rawat has been transferred from Rouse Avenue Court to the Delhi High Court as Joint Registrar.
  • Special Judge (POCSO) Gomti Manocha, known for recently accepting the Delhi Police’s cancellation report in a case against Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, has been transferred from Patiala House Court to Karkardooma Court.

In addition to these high-profile changes, the list also features the names of 18 newly trained judges who have now been appointed to various Sessions and District Courts across Delhi.
