Following a blast near a CRPF school in Prashant Vihar, Delhi Chief Minister Atishi held the BJP accountable for the law and order situation, stating, “The BJP is responsible for the law and order situation in Delhi.” Forensic teams are investigating, and security measures have been intensified across the city to prevent further incidents.

New Delhi: Hours after a loud blast occurred near a CRPF school in Delhi’s Prashant Vihar area, sparking a thorough investigation, Delhi Chief Minister Atishi openly criticized the BJP for the law and order situation in the capital. The incident, which took place on October 20, has escalated political tensions between the ruling AAP and the BJP.

In her first reaction to the blast, Atishi held the BJP accountable for the safety of Delhi’s citizens, stating,

“The BJP is responsible for the law and order situation in Delhi. But if you look at their track record, they spend all their time blocking the work of the elected party.”

She referred to recent violence in the city as evidence of mismanagement under BJP’s watch.

“Yesterday evening, 60 rounds of bullets were fired in the Welcome area, and today a bomb blast occurred outside a school in Delhi. This makes it clear that the BJP is working to hinder the efforts of Arvind Kejriwal’s government,”

she further added, urging the BJP to allow her government to focus on development work.

The Delhi Chief Minister’s remarks come in the wake of increasing public concern following the blast, which has prompted a forensic investigation at the site near the CRPF school. Teams from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL), bomb disposal squad, National Security Guard (NSG), the special terror unit, and fire brigade officials have been deployed to the location.

A senior official at the scene provided an update on the investigation, stating, “Our forensic team and crime unit are collecting samples from the blast site.” He also noted that while early signs indicate the explosion could have been caused by a firecracker, all possibilities are being examined. “It could be a firecracker, but we are investigating all angles,” the official added.

In response to the incident, security measures have been heightened throughout the city. An alert has been issued to nearby police stations to intensify their security checks.

“Foot patrolling has also been intensified in different markets. We urge everyone to immediately inform the police if they see any suspicious items,”

another senior official emphasized.

The political fallout from the blast is significant, with Atishi’s statements adding fuel to the ongoing AAP-BJP rivalry over governance in Delhi. The law and order issue has been a contentious topic, and Atishi’s sharp criticism is a clear indicator of AAP’s dissatisfaction with the centre’s handling of security in the capital.

As investigations continue, the public awaits further updates on the blast and the government’s measures to ensure safety in the city. The incident has not only raised concerns about public safety but also reignited the debate over the division of power between the Delhi government and the BJP-led Centre.
