Maharashtra: The Nagpur High Court Bar Association is set to embark on a significant milestone as it gears up to celebrate a hundred years since its inception. This historic occasion is marked by a three-day festivity planned for this coming weekend. The commencement of the centennial celebrations is scheduled for April 5th, a Friday, signaling the start of an event that promises to be both memorable and momentous.
The inauguration of this landmark event will be graced by the Chief Justice of India, Dhananjaya Y Chandrachud, who will preside over the opening ceremony at 6 PM in Nagpur on April 5th. The ceremony is not just a formal beginning but a tribute to the century-long journey of the High Court Bar Association at Nagpur.
An illustrious roster of guests will augment the grandeur of the event. Supreme Court Judges Justices BR Gavai, AS Oka, Prasanna Varale, and Dipankar Datta are among the distinguished attendees. Their presence is a testament to the importance of this celebration in the legal community.
Moreover, the Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court, Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya, will also grace the occasion with his presence, adding to the event’s prestige. Another highlight of the event is the participation of former Chief Justice of India Sharad Arvind Bobde as a guest of honour, symbolizing the rich legacy and the illustrious past of the association.
The festivities are scheduled to kick off at 6 PM on Friday at the Nagpur bench premises, setting the stage for a series of events designed to celebrate this remarkable milestone. One of the key events includes a felicitation function, which will be held on April 7 at 10 AM. This event, set to take place at the Vasantrao Deshpande Hall in Nagpur, aims to honor the luminaries of the HCBA, acknowledging their contributions and achievements.

The centenary year celebrations will conclude on April 7 with a cricket match between the Bench and Bar, symbolizing the camaraderie and spirit of unity that exists within the legal fraternity.
