Chandrachud has embarked on a three-day official visit to Nepal, marking a historic first for any sitting Chief Justice of India. During this visit, he will meet his Nepalese counterpart and address a symposium on child rights.
Chief Justice Chandrachud, who is visiting at the invitation of Chief Justice of Nepal Bishwombhar Prasad Shrestha, was warmly received upon his arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport by the senior-most justice at the Supreme Court of Nepal, Dr. Ananda Mohan Bhattarai.
“This is for the first time in history that any sitting Chief Justice of India paid an official visit to Nepal on record,”
-noted Ved Prasad Upreti, spokesperson at the Supreme Court.
During his stay, Chief Justice Chandrachud will serve as the keynote speaker at a national symposium on child rights, organized by the Central Child Justice Committee in Kathmandu. He will also hold a friendly meeting with Chief Justice Shrestha, who is set to host a dinner reception in honor of his Indian counterpart.
CJI Chandrachud is scheduled to return to India on Sunday after concluding his official visit.
