During visit to the health camp held at the Supreme Court premises, Senior Advocate and President of the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA), Kapil Sibal, made an appeal to Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud, requesting a ban on the use of gutkha (a form of chewing tobacco) within the premises.

In a casual conversation, Sibal said,

“Gutkha band krwa do”

emphasizing the importance of addressing the issue of tobacco consumption in the court environment.

In response to this, CJI Chandrachud agreed with the suggestion, affirming with a clear,

“Ha bilkul”

This exchange highlights the growing concern over tobacco use in public spaces, especially within a professional environment like the Supreme Court, where health and well-being are crucial.

The call for a gutkha ban aligns with the broader health initiatives being discussed during their visit to the health camp, further promoting a healthier workplace for the legal fraternity.
