The Centre has notified the appointment of 2 advocates as judges of the Allahabad High Court. Rajiv Lochan Shukla and Amitabh Kumar Rai join the esteemed judicial bench.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!NEW DELHI: The Ministry of Law and Justice has officially notified the appointment of two distinguished advocates to the bench of the Allahabad High Court. Law Minister Shri Arjun Ram Meghwal made the announcement today through a post on X.
The newly appointed judges are:
- Rajiv Lochan Shukla
- Amitabh Kumar Rai
In the notification, the Ministry stated:
“In exercise of the power conferred by the Constitution of India, the President of India, after consultation with the Chief Justice of India, is pleased to appoint S/Shri (i) Amitabh Kumar Rai and (ii) Rajiv Lochan Shukla, Advocates as Judges of the Allahabad High Court.”
Background of the Appointment:
The Supreme Court Collegium, in its meeting held on March 25, 2025, had recommended the elevation of both advocates to the Allahabad High Court. After receiving the President’s approval, the Ministry has now issued the formal notification, thereby clearing the way for their swearing-in.
The Supreme Court Collegium has also recommended 26 more names for appointment as judges of the Allahabad High Court. This recommendation is currently pending consideration before the Central Government.
