NEW DELHI: The Central Government on Monday notified the appointment of three Senior Advocates as Additional Solicitors General (ASGs) for India, to represent the Union government before the Supreme Court of India.
The appointments were approved by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) and formally notified by the Union Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, Department of Personnel & Training.
List of Newly Appointed ASGs
The following Senior Advocates have been appointed as Additional Solicitors General:
- Devinder Pal Singh, Senior Advocate
- Kanakamedala Ravindra Kumar, Senior Advocate
- Anil Kaushik, Senior Advocate
All three appointments are for a tenure of three years from the date of assumption of charge, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
As per the official notification issued, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet approved the appointments under file number No.31/1/2025-EO(SM-II)-02. The notification was signed by Kundan Nath, Under Secretary (EO-SM-II).
The Department of Legal Affairs, Ministry of Law and Justice, has been informed of the necessary action.
Background of the Appointees
- Senior Advocate Kanakamedala Ravindra Kumar is a former Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament, having served from 2018 to 2024, representing the Telugu Desam Party (TDP).
- Senior Advocate Devinder Pal Singh has previously served as the Additional Advocate General for the governments of Punjab and Haryana, bringing extensive experience in constitutional and government litigation.
- Senior Advocate Anil Kaushik is a well-known legal practitioner with significant experience in Supreme Court matters.

Additional Solicitors General play a crucial role in representing the Union of India before the Supreme Court, assisting the Solicitor General and Attorney General in important constitutional, statutory, and policy-related litigation.
