Bihar Voter List Revision is progressing smoothly as the Election Commission of India reports, “Documents of Over 99% Electors Received.” The September 1 deadline marks the final submission for those who filled enumeration forms during the SIR process.

The Election Commission announced on Monday that 99.11 percent of the 7.24 crore electors in Bihar have submitted their documents according to the draft list.

The deadline for submitting documents by those who completed enumeration forms during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls is September 1.

The draft voter list was released on August 1 as part of this revision process.

The EC emphasized that the claims and objections period allows electors to not only correct any errors in the draft rolls but also to provide any necessary documents that may not have been submitted initially.

Over the 60-day period from June 24 to August 24, 98.2 percent of electors managed to submit their documents.

Additionally, the Supreme Court has directed the poll authority to accept Aadhaar or any of the 11 specified documents from individuals seeking to be included in the voter list.

Earlier, on 14th August, The Supreme Court announced during Bihar Special Intensive Revision (SIR) case, that individuals whose names have been removed from the state’s voter lists can use their Aadhaar cards to contest this deletion.

Previously, the Election Commission had resisted accepting Aadhaar as valid, arguing that while it serves as proof of identity, it does not confirm citizenship.
