The ECI’s directive ensures that every working individual, whether in the public or private sector, has the opportunity to cast their vote without the fear of losing a day’s wages. This initiative highlights the Commission’s commitment to fostering higher voter turnout and making the electoral process more inclusive.
In addition to Bihar, the ECI has also extended this provision to eight assembly constituencies across various states where bypolls are scheduled to take place on November 11. Workers employed in these regions will similarly receive a paid holiday to exercise their voting rights.
