Supreme Court Advocate and Family Attacked in Ujjain After Refusing Prasad Purchase at Temple Kiosk. The advocate suffered head injuries and a case has been filed against Bhati. Investigations are ongoing.

A Supreme Court advocate and his eight family members from Mumbai were assaulted by a kiosk owner and his accomplices after declining to purchase Prasad from the shop where they had parked their vehicle at Kal Bhairav temple on a Sunday morning.

Responding swiftly, the Ujjain district collector ordered the demolition of all illegal shops near the temple, including the one belonging to the accused.

Before noon, over 25 illegally constructed shops selling flowers and Prasad were demolished.

After attending the Bhasmarti at Mahakal temple on Sunday morning, the family members arrived at Kal Bhairav temple.

According to police reports, the Supreme Court advocate and his family arrived in Ujjain on Saturday night. Early Sunday morning, they attended the Bhasmarti ceremony and then hired a van to explore other temples. Upon reaching Kal Bhairav temple, the driver parked the vehicle near a shop. Upon their return, the kiosk owner, identified as Raja Bhati, pressured them to purchase Prasad from the shop. Despite their refusal, stating they had already visited the temple, Bhati threw the packet into their vehicle and demanded Rs 200 for parking near the shop. This ignited a heated dispute between the family and the kiosk owners, attracting a crowd to the scene.

The family members alleged that they were assaulted, with one woman being dragged out of the car by the accused who pulled her hair, while minors were subjected to inappropriate touching.

The accused prevented the family from seeking medical assistance despite one member bleeding profusely. The driver, Kamal Kumar, managed to shift the family to the district hospital, but the accused followed them and issued threats. Ujjain SP Pradeep Sharma confirmed the arrest of the accused, Raja Bhati, who also suffered injuries.

Police stated that the advocate suffered head injuries from an iron rod attack and is currently receiving medical treatment. SP Pradeep Sharma mentioned that a case has been filed against the accused under Section 326 for causing severe injuries using dangerous means, Section 354 for harassment, and relevant sections of the POCSO Act.

He further added that the statements of the family members were being recorded as part of the investigation.
