Rekha Gupta Named Delhi’s New Chief Minister After BJP’s Landslide Victory in 2025 Elections

New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has appointed Rekha Gupta as the new Chief Minister of Delhi following its sweeping victory in the 2025 Delhi Assembly elections. The announcement was made after a crucial party meeting held on Wednesday.

Gupta, a senior BJP leader with vast political experience, will officially take the oath as Delhi’s Chief Minister on February 20. She will be joined by Parvesh Verma and six other ministers during the swearing-in ceremony.

Gupta contested the 2025 Delhi Assembly elections from the Shalimar Bagh constituency, where she secured a total of 68,200 votes. She defeated AAP’s Bandana Kumari by a decisive margin of 29,595 votes, marking a significant win for the BJP in the national capital.

With this appointment, the BJP aims to bring a fresh leadership approach to address Delhi’s governance and development challenges. Gupta’s elevation to the top post is seen as a strategic move by the party to strengthen its hold in the capital and deliver on key electoral promises.

Her leadership is expected to focus on improving civic infrastructure, tackling pollution, and addressing concerns over law and order, which were some of the major issues during the election campaign.

The 2025 Delhi Assembly elections saw the BJP securing a historic mandate, ending the long-standing rule of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in the capital. The party’s strong campaign, focused on governance and development, resonated with the voters, leading to a resounding victory.

With Rekha Gupta set to take charge, all eyes are now on the new government’s roadmap for Delhi’s future.
