Today, On 30th August, Baba Ramdev faces new legal challenges as a plea in the Delhi High Court claims that Patanjali’s Divya Dant Manjan tooth powder contains non-vegetarian ingredients. Advocate Yatin Sharma has filed the plea, alleging that despite the product’s packaging displaying a green dot, indicating it is vegetarian, it actually contains common cuttlefish.

New Delhi: The Delhi High Court on Friday issued a notice to Patanjali Ayurveda and Baba Ramdev in response to a petition alleging that their herbal tooth powder, Divya Dant Manjan, contains a non-vegetarian ingredient and has been misleadingly labelled as vegetarian.
Justice Sanjeev Narula also issued notices to the Central government and Patanjali’s Divya Pharmacy, the manufacturer of the product.
The next hearing for the case scheduled for November 28.

The petition, filed by advocate Yatin Sharma, claims that the packaging of Patanjali’s Divya Dant Manjan displays a green dot, which indicates that the product is vegetarian. However, the ingredient list on the packaging reportedly includes Sepia officinalis, commonly known as cuttlefish, which is not vegetarian.
The petitioner argued that this constitutes misbranding and that Ramdev and others have been promoting the product as vegetarian despite its actual contents.
Sharma argued that this is a violation of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act.
The Supreme Court earlier demanded the personal presence of Baba Ramdev following his non-compliance with a reply requirement regarding a contempt notice. This notice was part of proceedings against Patanjali Ayurved for deceptive advertising practices.
The directive came from a bench comprising Justices Hima Kohli and Ahsanuddin Amanullah, which preliminarily found Ramdev and Patanjali’s chairman, Acharya Balkrishna, to likely be infringing upon Sections 3 and 4 of the Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisements) Act, 1954.
