Supreme Court Extends Former Maharashtra Minister Nawab Malik’s Medical Bail by Three Months

In a significant development, the Supreme Court of India has granted a three-month extension to the medical bail of former Maharashtra Minister and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader, Nawab Malik. This decision was made after a thorough examination of Malik’s medical condition and the reports associated with it.

Nawab Malik, who had been incarcerated in connection with allegations of money laundering, was initially granted bail due to health concerns. The decision to prolong his bail was influenced by the medical documentation presented before the court.

Highlighting the gravity of the situation, the bench remarked,

“Considering the medical reports placed on record, especially the one dated September 30, 2023, and the submissions advanced, we deem it appropriate to extend the interim order for a further period of three months.”

The court’s decision also took note of the submission that Malik

“is suffering from various ailments and is currently admitted in Lilavati Hospital, Mumbai.”

This latest turn in Nawab Malik’s legal journey has captured significant attention, given his influential political position and the serious nature of the allegations against him. As Malik continues his medical treatment, the unfolding legal narrative surrounding his case remains a focal point for political commentators, legal scholars, and the wider public.
