In a significant development, the Gujarat High Court has declined to stay the summons issued to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh. The summons are related to a defamation case concerning allegations about the authenticity of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s educational degree.

The entire controversy was ignited when Kejriwal and Singh raised doubts about PM Modi’s degree. Responding to these claims, the Gujarat University had firmly stated,

“The degree of the Prime Minister is authentic. The allegations regarding the genuineness of the degree certificate are mischievous.”

The defamation proceedings were initiated based on a complaint by Dhruv Nathwani, a member of the BJP’s youth wing. Nathwani alleged that the two leaders had tarnished the reputation of the university by casting aspersions on the Prime Minister’s degree. In his complaint, Nathwani was quoted saying,

“The accused number 1 (Kejriwal) and accused number 2 (Singh) have damaged the reputation of the university by making false and incorrect statements intentionally.”

In light of these allegations, Kejriwal and Singh approached the Gujarat High Court, seeking a stay on the summons issued by an Ahmedabad-based local court. While the High Court refused to grant the stay, it did issue a notice to Gujarat University, seeking its stance on the matter.

This case, with its intertwining of politics and legal proceedings, continues to capture the nation’s attention. As the narrative unfolds, the discourse surrounding the Prime Minister’s educational qualifications remains a hot topic in both political and legal arenas.
