Monu Manesar, Bajrang Dal Member, Detained by Haryana Police Over Alleged Incitement of Violence

Haryana Police detained Mohit Yadav, commonly known as Monu Manesar, a prominent member of the Bajrang Dal, on Tuesday. He is accused of inciting communal violence in Nuh. A video clip has emerged, showing plainclothes officials taking him into custody.

Monu Manesar, who is also recognized as a cow vigilante, was previously implicated in the murder of two Muslim men, Nasir and Junaid, in February of this year. Both victims, hailing from Ghatmeeka village in the Bharatpur district of Rajasthan, were allegedly abducted by cow vigilantes on February 15. Their bodies were later discovered in a burnt car in Loharu, located in Haryana’s Bhiwani district, the following day. The Rajasthan Police subsequently filed a chargesheet, naming Monu Manesar as one of the accused.

In an exclusive statement to India Today, Additional Director General of Police, Law and Order, Mamta Singh, disclosed that Monu Manesar’s arrest was not only linked to the aforementioned incident but also due to an

“objectionable social media post.”

Singh further informed that police departments in other states, where Manesar is sought, have been notified of his arrest.

“The state police can take Monu Manesar’s custody through the court,”

added Singh.

Monu Manesar, whose real name is Mohit Yadav, is a resident of Manesar near Gurugram. He has been a significant figure in the cow vigilante movement and has been associated with the Bajrang Dal.
