Arvind Kejriwal, the Chief Minister of Delhi, who is presently in judicial custody regarding the liquor policy case, started his day by cleaning his cell at Tihar Jail in Delhi.

New Delhi: Today (April 3): Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, currently in judicial custody in connection with the liquor policy case, began his day by cleaning his prison cell at Delhi’s Tihar Jail.

All under-trial prisoners at Tihar Jail are required to clean their cells themselves. Kejriwal, who is said to be in good health according to jail doctors, reportedly lost weight since his arrest, as claimed by sources from the Aam Aadmi Party.

Moreover, Kejriwal has requested a chair from the jail administration, within Tihar Jail.

On April 1, a Delhi court ordered the Delhi Chief Minister to be remanded in judicial custody for 15 days in the excise policy case, sending him to Tihar Jail until April 15.

The court granted him permission to have home-cooked meals and carry his prescribed medications for diabetes.

As per the reports, Kejriwal is lodged in Jail Number 2 of the high-security Tihar Jail, where he has been provided with an isolation room and a table and chair to keep three books, as per the court’s instructions. He slept on his bed, different from the regular ones provided by the jail authority, even though the area was relatively small.

Officials observed that Kejriwal kept his devices, such as a sugar sensor and glucometer, isabgol, glucose, and toffees, on his table. The court had directed the jail authorities to allow Kejriwal to carry these items in case of a sudden drop in his sugar levels.

On Tuesday, the Delhi Chief Minister woke up early and was served breakfast and tea at 6:40 am. After an early lunch, he returned to his cell at 12 noon and remained there until 3 pm, as per the sources.

Kejriwal was taken into custody on Monday afternoon at the end of his Directorate of Enforcement custodial remand. In 2014, he was also lodged in Tihar Jail for refusing to furnish a bail amount of Rs 10,000 in a defamation case filed against him by BJP leader Nitin Gadkari.

Among the other AAP leaders currently in Tihar Jail are Manish Sisodia and Satyendar Jain. K. Kavitha, a Bharat Rashtra Samithi leader and the daughter of former Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, is also lodged in Tihar Jail.
