Justice Rajesh Bindal was born on April 16, 1961, in Ambala, Haryana. He completed his LL.B. from Kurukshetra University in 1985 and began practicing law at the Punjab & Haryana High Court the same year. As an advocate, Justice Bindal represented various government departments in Punjab and Haryana, including the Punjab & Haryana Employees Provident Fund Organization and the Haryana Income Tax Department.
Justice Bindal was appointed as a Judge of the Punjab & Haryana High Court in 2006, where he served for 12 years, disposing of approximately 80,000 cases. During this tenure, he chaired multiple committees, including one formed by the Ministry of Women and Child Development to examine the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction Bill, 2016.

In 2018, he was transferred to the Jammu & Kashmir High Court, where he actively worked to enhance the accessibility of legal tools and promoted the use of technology within the judiciary. He contributed to several committees focused on computers, finance, infrastructure, information technology, and legal services.
Justice Bindal was transferred to the Calcutta High Court in January 2021 and served as its Acting Chief Justice from April to October 2021. Subsequently, he was appointed Chief Justice of the Allahabad High Court in October 2021. He was thereafter appointed as a judge of the Supreme Court 13th February,2023 and he is retiring on 15th April,2027.
