Justice Amanullah was born on May 11, 1963, in Bihar. He graduated from Patna Law College and enrolled as an advocate in September 1991.
Specializing in Constitutional and Service law matters, Justice Amanullah represented both the Bihar and Union governments in various capacities. From March 2006 to August 2010, he served as Standing Counsel for the Bihar government, after which he was appointed Government Advocate. He held this position until his elevation to the Bench of the Patna High Court on June 20, 2011.
Justice Amanullah has been actively involved in legal aid initiatives throughout his career. As an advocate, he served on the panel of the Patna Legal Aid Committee. Upon becoming a Judge at the Patna High Court in June 2011, he was appointed as its Chairman.
In October 2021, Justice Amanullah was transferred to the Andhra Pradesh High Court, where he was appointed Executive Chairman of the Andhra Pradesh Legal Services Authority in November 2021. He returned to the Patna High Court in June 2022 and was elevated to the Supreme Court of India on February 6, 2023.
