JAIPUR: An 11-year-old girl from Jaipur posted several YouTube videos, including one where she was seen playing with a syringe. These videos have raised concerns about the influence of social media on children and led to strong remarks from the Rajasthan High Court.

The court blamed her grandparents for being careless and decided to shift the custody of the girl and her younger brother to their mother.

After watching these YouTube videos, Justice Pankaj Bhandari pointed out “serious negligence” and said the grandparents were “irresponsible in (their) upbringing.”

The girl and her seven-year-old brother had been living with their paternal grandparents since their father passed away a year ago.

She had uploaded nearly 130 videos on her YouTube account, one of which featured her handling a syringe.

The mother’s lawyer presented these videos in court, arguing that the paternal grandparents were elderly and unable to take proper care of the children. She claimed that they were unaware of the girl’s health condition and that she consumed a lot of junk food.

The girl’s grandfather stated that they were not aware that she was making such videos. He said they would challenge the court’s decision in the Supreme Court.

He also alleged that the maternal grandmother had taken control of the girl’s YouTube channel and had distanced the children from them by making false accusations.

He further stated that these videos were recorded before the girl lost her father.
