Telangana High Court’s Digital Shift: e-Filing 3.0 Portal Revolutionizes Legal Proceedings

In a monumental stride towards digital transformation, the Telangana High Court has officially launched its e-Filing 3.0 portal. This pioneering initiative, led by Chief Justice Alok Aradhe, is set to revolutionise the way cases and petitions are filed within the state.

The e-Filing 3.0 portal, scheduled to operate on a pilot basis from October 3 to December 31, 2023, is open to

“government pleaders, standing counsel, advocates, and parties in person.”

This significant move is a response to the directions of the Chief Justice and a letter from the Registrar dated 29th September 2023.

To ensure a seamless transition to this innovative platform, the computer committee and the registrar (judicial) have stated that

“comprehensive guidelines have been issued.”

Advocates, especially those newly affiliated with the high court, as well as individuals initiating cases, are strongly encouraged to

“update and submit essential details.”

These encompass their Bar Council enrolment number, gender, date of birth, mobile number, and email ID into the Case Information System (CIS) software. It’s mandatory for

“all advocates appearing before the high court to use their Bar Council enrolment number alongside the advocate computer code.”

During this pilot phase, e-filing is obligatory for

“Government Pleaders, Standing Counsel, and parties-in-person for Income Tax cases.”

To bolster this initiative, the scanning of these cases will be executed

“free of cost in the newly established eSewa Kendra of the High Court.”

Moreover, parties-in-person associated with Income Tax matters are required to

“seek permission from the concerned Party-in-Person Committee.”

Those opting for e-filing must provide

“an undertaking that they will submit physical case records if directed by the Court or as per e-Filing rules.”

Government pleaders and standing counsel have been instructed to

“inform the High Court Registry of any changes in their positions so that their names can be mapped with the period of their incumbency using the Advocate Computer Code.”

For any assistance or inquiries related to filing procedures, advocates and parties-in-person managing Income Tax cases are directed to reach out to

“the Nodal Officer, the Deputy Registrar of the New Filing Section.”

This digital transformation by the Telangana High Court not only aims to streamline legal proceedings but also signifies the court’s unwavering dedication to integrating technological advancements within the legal framework.
