Today, On 16th October, Actor Shilpa Shetty informed the Bombay High Court that she is withdrawing her request for permission to travel abroad, as her plans did not materialize, in the ongoing Rs 60-crore cheating case involving her and husband Raj Kundra.

Actor Shilpa Shetty, involved in a Rs 60-crore cheating case with her husband Raj Kundra, informed the Bombay High Court that she is withdrawing her request for permission to travel abroad, as her travel plans did not materialize.
Her lawyer, Niranjan Mundargi, told a bench comprising Chief Justice Shree Chandrashekhar and Justice Gautam Ankhad that Shetty was retracting her application.
He stated,
“As and when she and her husband desire to travel in future, they will file a fresh application seeking permission from the court. She (Shetty) is not pressing the present application.”
The case against the couple stems from a complaint by Deepak Kothari, who alleges that from 2015 to 2023, they persuaded him to invest Rs 60 crore in their company, Best Deal TV Pvt Ltd, but used the funds for personal gain.
Last month, the couple had petitioned the High Court to suspend the Look Out Circular (LOC) issued by the city police’s Economic Offences Wing (EOW), which is investigating the matter.
They sought permission to travel abroad for professional engagements and a leisure trip planned between October and January 2026.
The court accepted Shetty’s withdrawal and scheduled a hearing for the couple’s request to suspend the LOC on November 17.
During previous hearings, the court had indicated that it would not permit leisure travel while they are under investigation for cheating and fraud, suggesting that their plea would only be considered if they were willing to deposit the Rs 60 crore.
Shetty had intended to travel to the United States for an event in the last week of October.
The bench had previously requested her to present the agreement or invitation pertaining to that event.
Mundargi explained that no agreement could be finalized until the actor obtained travel permission from the court. He also noted that both Shetty and Kundra had cooperated with the investigation and had attended questioning sessions.
