Today, On 15th July, The Allahabad High Court stayed the arrest of RCB cricketer Yash Dayal in a sexual exploitation case. The court remarked, “One can’t be fooled for 5 years,” while questioning the credibility of the prolonged relationship claim.

The Allahabad High Court provided interim protection from arrest to cricketer Yash Dayal in connection with a sexual exploitation case.

The 27-year-old athlete is accused of exploiting a woman for five years under the guise of marriage, with a First Information Report (FIR) filed against him on July 6 at the Indirapuram police station in Ghaziabad under Section 69 of the BNS.

A bench consisting of Justice Siddhartha Varma and Justice Anil Kumar granted relief to Dayal until the next hearing.

The court made notable remarks concerning the timeline of the alleged exploitation.

The bench remarked during the proceedings,

“You could have been fooled for 1 day, 2 day 3 day…but 5 years…you are entering into a relationship for 5 years…one can’t be fooled for 5 years,”

The case arose from a complaint by a woman who claims to have met Dayal around five years ago.

According to her account, Dayal promised marriage throughout their relationship but consistently delayed their wedding plans. She later learned that he was allegedly involved with other women as well. Dayal’s legal team included Senior Advocate Gopal Swaroop Chaturvedi, supported by Advocates Gaurav Tripathi and Raghuvansh Mishra.

In her police complaint, the woman accused Yash Dayal of engaging in physical relations with her under the false pretense of marriage.

She stated,

“He repeatedly made physical relations with me by falsely promising marriage and introduced me to his family, who assured that I would be their daughter-in-law. I maintained the relationship with complete honesty and dedication,”

The woman further informed the police that this situation led her to experience depression, for which she sought treatment.

She alleged,

“I tried to end my life many times because I couldn’t get out of the mental pain, and he and his family kept giving me false assurances. His relationship with other women caused me deep mental trauma and broke me down,”

In response, Dayal has denied the accusations and filed a counter-complaint with the Prayagraj police, requesting an FIR.

He claimed that the woman stole his iPhone and laptop and borrowed money from him under false pretenses. Dayal stated that he possesses evidence to substantiate his claims.

The FIR was filed under Section 69 of BNS, which addresses sexual intercourse obtained through deceitful means.

The interim protection from arrest granted by the High Court will remain in effect until the next hearing date.
