The Allahabad High Court has ordered round-the-clock security for a man who is pursuing his cases against a very powerful individual and facing constant threats. He is litigating against Rahul over citizenship issues.

The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court mandated 24/7 security for a BJP worker engaged in a legal case against Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, requesting the cancellation of his Indian citizenship.

The bench instructed the Union Home Ministry’s secretary to provide one Personal Security Officer (PSO) from the Central Armed Police Forces to ensure the petitioner’s safety at all times.

The order was issued by Justices Sangeeta Chandra and BR Singh in response to a writ petition filed by Karnataka BJP worker S. Vignesh Shishir.

In its interim ruling, the bench noted,

“We are, prima facie, satisfied that the matter requires consideration as the petitioner has been pursuing his cases against a very powerful individual and is facing constant threats and has to appear before the Investigating Officer at Police Station Kotwali, District Raebareli in pursuance of notice issued to him.”

The petitioner pointed out that following his complaint in June 2024, a CBI investigation was underway, and he had met with the agency in Delhi multiple times to provide evidence of Rahul Gandhi’s British citizenship.

He revealed to the CBI details about a company, M/s Backops Limited, established on August 21, 2003, in the UK, where Gandhi is listed as a director, with an address of 2, Frognal Way, London, UK NW3 6XE.

Additionally, he indicated that he had lodged objections with the Returning Officer during the Wayanad Parliamentary by-election in Kerala against Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s candidacy, which were disregarded.

Consequently, he is in the process of filing a writ of quo warranto against Priyanka Gandhi Vadra. The petitioner expressed that, as a result of pursuing cases against these two politicians, he has been facing threats and coercion daily.

He mentioned that he had requested security from the central government and had contacted the Prime Minister’s Office, but his appeals went unanswered.

In court, Deputy Solicitor General of India, S.B. Pandey, stated that there is a Witness Protection Scheme in place, and given the “palpable” threats faced by the petitioner, the court may consider issuing a security order.

The case is scheduled for a hearing on October 9.
