Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra has approached the Delhi High Court seeking custody of her pet Rottweiler Henry, prompting Justice Manoj Kumar Ohri to issue notice to her ex-partner, advocate Jai Anant Dehadrai for his response on the urgent custody dispute.

Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra approached the Delhi High Court to challenge a Saket court’s ruling that denied her interim custody of her pet Rottweiler, Henry.

Justice Manoj Kumar Ohri issued a notice to Moitra’s ex-boyfriend, advocate Jai Anant Dehadrai, requesting his response to the petition.

The case is scheduled for a hearing on April 29.

Dehadrai appeared in court and argued that Moitra’s case should be dismissed outright. The two have been engaged in ongoing legal disputes over the past few years.

Dehadrai previously accused Moitra of accepting bribes from businessman Darshan Hiranandani in exchange for posing certain questions in Parliament. BJP MP Nishikant Dubey also lodged a complaint with the Lok Sabha Speaker regarding these allegations.

In light of these claims, the Lok Sabha Ethics Committee recommended Moitra’s removal from the house, leading to her expulsion from Parliament on December 8, 2023.

Moitra has refuted these accusations, asserting that Hiranandani is simply a friend and that the allegations stem from political vendetta.

Dehadrai and Dubey contended that Moitra granted Hiranandani full access to her online Lok Sabha account, which he allegedly used to submit parliamentary questions of his choosing.

They claimed that 50 out of the 61 questions Moitra raised were influenced by Hiranandani.

In response, Moitra filed a defamation lawsuit against Dehadrai and Dubey. However, her request for an interim injunction was denied by the High Court in March 2024.

The court stated that the claims about Moitra sharing her parliamentary login credentials with Darshan Hiranandani and receiving gifts from him were not “totally false.”
