[Renukaswamy Murder Case] “He Must Surrender Passport & Provide Treatment Details Within 7 Days”: Actor Darshan Granted 6 Week Interim Bail for Medical Reasons

Today, On 30th October, Actor Darshan has been granted interim bail for six weeks to undergo medical treatment after being arrested on charges of allegedly torturing and murdering a fan. The incident reportedly stemmed from accusations that the fan had sent obscene messages to Darshan’s friend, fellow actor Pavithra Gowda. The court allowed bail due to Darshan’s medical needs, permitting a temporary release.

Bengaluru: Actor Darshan, arrested on charges of allegedly torturing and murdering a fan accused of sending obscene messages to his friend and fellow actor Pavithra Gowda, has been granted interim bail for six weeks by the Karnataka High Court.

The 47-year-old actor sought bail, citing “numbness in both feet” and a need for surgery.

Justice S. Vishwajith Shetty specified that,

“Darshan must surrender his passport and provide details of his treatment at the hospital of his choice within seven days.”

On Tuesday, his lawyer sought the court’s approval for his surgery to take place at a private hospital in Mysuru. However, this request was contested by the public prosecutor, who pointed out that the medical documents did not indicate the duration of Darshan’s required hospitalization and argued that the surgery could be performed at a government hospital.

Darshan was arrested on June 11 along with Pavithra Gowda and 15 others for the torture and murder of one of his fans, Renukaswamy, in Bengaluru. According to police reports, Renukaswamy, 33, had sent inappropriate messages to Gowda, which reportedly provoked Darshan and led to the murder.

Renukaswamy’s body was discovered near a stormwater drain next to an apartment in Bengaluru on June 9.

According to the details, Pavithra Gowda. the primary accused in the case, followed by Darshan Thoogudeepa.

The other individuals accused in the case include K Pawan, Nandish, Karthik, Keshavamurthy, Nikhil Naik, M Lakshmana, Raghavendra (also known as Raghu, who is the president of the Chitradurga unit of the Darshan Fan Association), R Nagaraju, and M Deepak Kumar.

It has been alleged that Swamy brought to Bengaluru on June after he had sent obscene messages to Pavithra Gowda. He then reportedly assaulted and killed in a deserted area of Pattagere. Subsequently, his body dumped in the Raj Canal near Kamakshi Palya late at night.

The Kamakshi Palya police received information about the body from local residents. After the body recovered, the police arrested Darshan Thoogudeepa the next morning from a private hotel in MysorePavithra Gowda arrested by noon, and the other accused individuals apprehended by the evening.

A case has been registered against the accused persons under Sections 302 (murder), 120B (conspiracy) read with Section 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code, 1860.
