Raj Shamani has approached the Delhi High Court seeking protection of his personality rights and removal of AI-generated content misusing his identity. He wants strict action against platforms using his name, image and voice without permission.

Podcaster and entrepreneur Raj Shamani has moved the Delhi High Court asking for protection of his personality rights. His case will be heard on November 17 by Justice Manmeet Pritam Singh Arora.

Shamani has filed the suit through his lawyer, Advocate Nakul Gandhi of NG Law Chambers. In the case, he has requested the High Court to order the removal of AI-generated content that uses his face, voice, name or identity without his permission.

He has also asked the Court to pass an injunction against all social media channels, websites and other online platforms that are using his name, image, voice, likeness or any other personal attribute without consent.

The suit also seeks action against John Doe defendants, which means unknown persons or unidentified platforms that may be creating or circulating such content.

Shamani has further sought protection for his registered trademarks and copyrighted material, saying that misuse of his identity is harming his reputation and brand value.

In the past, the Delhi High Court has issued similar directions to protect the personality rights of well-known public figures such as Amitabh Bachchan, Aishwarya Bachchan, Anil Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, Rajat Sharma, Sri Sri Ravishankar and Jaggi Vasudev.

These earlier orders recognised that individuals have the right to control how their identity is used, especially in the age of social media and AI tools that can easily create fake or misleading content.

Shamani’s petition argues that with the rapid spread of AI technology, fake content using his identity is increasing online, and only a strong court order can stop such misuse.

The Delhi High Court is expected to examine whether online platforms should be directed to immediately take down unauthorised AI-generated content and prevent future misuse of his name and personality.

The case will now come up for hearing on November 17.
