Three judges from the Kerala High Court, along with their families, narrowly escaped a deadly terrorist attack that took place in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, on Tuesday, April 22, 2025. The attack, which shook the nation, claimed over 25 lives.

‘Pahalgam was completely peaceful, security personnel were present everywhere’; Kerala High Court judges shocked by terrorist attack

As part of their travel itinerary, they visited several districts before reaching Pahalgam on Monday, April 21.After visiting several famous tourist spots, including a few temples, the group decided to stay the night in Pahalgam.
According to reports, they left the location on Tuesday morning at around 9:30 a.m., just hours before the tragic terror strike occurred.
In an interview with The Hindu from Srinagar, Justice Anil K. Narendran shared his experience.
He said, “The weather was pleasant and we covered most of the spots of tourist attraction, including a few temples, on Monday itself. The driver of the vehicle, who took us around, had offered to take us to more tourist spots in the area. However, I insisted on returning to Srinagar today itself to take a boat ride in Dal Lake as I had visited the area earlier, and we reached Srinagar safely.”
Justice Narendran also recalled meeting a man at their hotel in Srinagar who had a close brush with the attack.
He added, “We met a person at the hotel in Srinagar who narrowly escaped the terrorist attack. He was all shaken by the attack.”
Justice P. G. Ajithkumar also spoke about the timing of the incident and their narrow escape.
He said, “The terror strike reportedly took place at around noon, and by that time, we were back to safety in Srinagar. We reached Srinagar at around 2 p.m. We will leave for Kerala shortly.”
Reacting to the tragic incident, Prime Minister Narendra Modi posted on X, stating, “I strongly condemn the terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. Condolences to those who have lost their loved ones. I pray that the injured recover at the earliest. All possible assistance is being provided to those affected.”
He expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives, wished a speedy recovery to the injured, and assured that the government is extending full support to all those impacted by the attack.
