MUMBAI: On Thursday, the Bombay High Court granted anticipatory bail to a lawyer embroiled in a suspected love triangle that culminated in an attempted murder in Pune on May 28.

The incident involved the arrest of 41-year-old Sushil Kale by Pimpri Police for allegedly attempting to run over Nilesh Shinde, 30, who operates a transport business. Shinde had gone to meet a woman lawyer, during which Kale, in an inebriated state, engaged in a confrontation with Shinde before attempting to run him over with his SUV.

Following the booking of the lawyer by the police, she sought anticipatory bail. Justice Manish Pitale, presiding over the case, acknowledged that the lawyer was allegedly in a relationship with Shinde and had met him on the day of the incident.

According to the case details, after the lawyer and Shinde concluded their meeting, the lawyer departed in her car while Shinde left on his scooter. Subsequently, Kale arrived in his SUV and collided with Shinde’s scooter, causing injuries. Kale is also accused of attempting to run over Shinde, leading to charges under Section 307 (attempt to murder) of the Indian Penal Code.

Justice Pitale noted that the lawyer was not driving the vehicle that struck Shinde’s scooter and was not accused of attempting to run him over. The allegation against her was that she had called Kale to the scene.

The court granted anticipatory bail to the lawyer with the stipulation that she must cooperate with the ongoing investigation. She is required to appear before the Pimpri Police on July 7 and whenever summoned by the authorities.

This decision underscores the court’s careful consideration of the facts, ensuring that the lawyer’s role in the incident is scrutinized while protecting her rights pending further investigation.
