Today, On 23rd August, The Allahabad High Court granted relief to MLA Abbas Ansari in a case involving allegations of coercion in a land deed matter. The court’s decision provides Ansari with a reprieve from the legal accusations, signalling a significant development in the ongoing case.

MLA Abbas Ansari received significant relief from the Allahabad High Court on Friday as he was granted bail in a case involving allegations of coercion in a land deed transaction. Alongside Ansari, two others also granted bail in connection with the case, which centered around the forced transfer of property.

The decision handed down by Justice Rajbir Singh, whoreserved the order after hearing the case on August 1. The complaint against Ansari, filed by Fakhar in 2023 at the Ghazipur police station, accused Ansari and others of forcibly transferring his land back in 2012. Ansari’s defense team argued that the case politically motivated.

The defence also pointed out that the FIR related to the 2012 incident was only filed in 2023, a significant delay that they emphasized in their arguments. The prosecution vigorously contested the cases against Ansari, along with co-accused Atif Raza and Afroz Khan.

According to the allegations, Mukhtar Ansari sent his brother-in-law to summon Abu Faqar Khan to the Lucknow jail in 2012, where Khan was pressured into handing over the land. It was claimed that threats were made to kill him if he did not comply.

A cheque for Rs. 20 lakh issued based on the circle rate, and Rs. 4 lakh paid in cash as part of the sale deed. Meanwhile, Afroz, Atif Raza, and Anwar Shehzad allegedly went to the victim’s house and took him to Abbas Ansari, where he reportedly threatened with a pistol and forced to sign the cheque. Subsequently, large sums of money were withdrawn from the bank, and the land was seized.

The money allegedly deposited into Abu Faqar Khan’s bank account via cheques, and Mukhtar Ansari’s brother-in-law later withdrew the funds. Abbas Ansari, Mukhtar Ansari’s son, reportedly used a cheque to purchase the land, and Mukhtar’s brother-in-law later collected cash from the farmer.

Currently, Abbas Ansari is incarcerated in Kasganj Jail, while Atif Raza, also known as Sharjeel, is held in Lucknow Jail. Mukhtar’s elder brother-in-law, Anwar Shahzad, has already been granted bail in this case.
