The Allahabad High Court has rescheduled the hearing in the Krishna Janmabhoomi–Shahi Idgah dispute to September 26. The matter, involving claims over the birthplace of Lord Krishna, continues to remain one of the most closely watched legal battles.

The Allahabad High Court scheduled the next hearing for the ongoing Krishna Janmabhoomi–Shahi Idgah dispute in Mathura for September 26.

Justice Ram Manohar Narain Mishra issued this order after reviewing the arguments and documents submitted by the involved parties.

During the session, the court acknowledged that documents related to suit number 17 were entered into the record.

Previously, on July 18, the High Court approved an application under Order 1, Rule 8 of the Civil Procedure Code (CPC), granting representative capacity.

Consequently, suit number 17 will be treated as the lead case, to be heard and resolved first.

One of the plaintiffs indicated that a special appeal has also been filed with a division bench.

The court stated that it would address any conflicting orders from the appellate court at that time. Hindu worshippers have filed 18 lawsuits seeking the land’s possession following the removal of the Shahi Idgah mosque, the restoration of a temple at Lord Krishna’s birthplace, and a permanent injunction against any further interference.

Earlier, On August 1, 2024, the High Court dismissed objections from the Muslim side regarding the maintainability of the suits, ruling that the claims made by the Hindu worshippers were valid and not restricted by the Limitation Act, the Waqf Act, or the Places of Worship (Special Provisions) Act, 1991, which prohibits altering the status of religious sites as they existed on August 15, 1947.

Following this, on October 23, 2024, the High Court rejected a request from the Shahi Idgah mosque committee to recall its January 11, 2024 order that consolidated all pending suits related to the dispute.
