Justice M Nagaprasanna, a single-judge, noted the severity of the case against Prajwal Revanna, stating that the special MP/MLA court should not have granted bail. He remarked,
“The facts are very gory here (in the rape case). Bail should not have been granted…376, gangrape and all. It is very gory.”
Senior Advocate Ravivarma Kumar, representing the SIT, argued that bail was wrongfully granted by the trial court in such a serious case and should be revoked. Conversely, Senior Advocate CV Nagesh, defending Revanna, contended that the prosecution was not only seeking bail cancellation but also challenging the bail order itself.
He argued that the charge of kidnapping was unsustainable as the victim was not a minor and there was no element of deceit involved in the abduction allegation.
Nagesh emphasized that the victim, a maid servant, was not abducted at the behest of HD Revanna or his wife, and there was no deceit, threat, or detention.

The court reserved its order after hearing both parties.
HD Revanna is also implicated in a sexual assault case, for which he was granted bail, though this case was not addressed in the recent hearing.
The allegations against HD Revanna are connected to sexual abuse charges against his son, suspended JD(S) leader Prajwal Revanna. Over 2,900 videos depicting the sexual assault of multiple women, allegedly involving Prajwal Revanna, were circulated on social media and other platforms. Prajwal Revanna remains in prison.
