‘Only She Profits’: Karisma Kapoor’s Children Accuse Priya Sachdev Kapur of Forging Rs 30,000 Crore Will

NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court on Tuesday continued its hearing into the inheritance battle over the late businessman Sunjay Kapur’s Rs 30,000 crore fortune, a dispute that could rival any Bollywood script in twists and emotions.

The case revolves around Sunjay Kapur’s contested will, which allegedly leaves his personal estate entirely to his third wife, Priya Sachdev Kapur. However, Samaira and Kiaan, his children from his second marriage to actor Karisma Kapoor, have challenged the will, calling it “forged and fabricated.”

Senior Advocate Mahesh Jethmalani, representing Karisma Kapoor’s children, tore into the will’s authenticity before Justice Prathiba M. Singh. He argued that even Rani Kapur, Sunjay’s mother, had been “sidelined” in the provisions of the will, leaving Priya Kapur as the sole beneficiary.

“Only Priya Kapur profits from this forged will,”

Jethmalani told the court, underscoring how the document suspiciously excludes the rest of the family.

Jethmalani also pointed out striking inconsistencies, such as the use of feminine pronouns to describe Sunjay Kapur himself.

“When you get ‘she’ and ‘her’ in four places… it is incredulous that Sunjay Kapur, with all his knowledge, could have drafted this,”

he remarked.

The senior advocate emphasized that if Sunjay Kapur truly wished to bequeath all his personal assets solely to his wife, he would have registered the will to prevent any future disputes.

“He would have registered the will! So no one can contest it! But it is not registered!”

Jethmalani asserted.

According to him, the document is riddled with “contradictions and infirmities at every stage.”

In earlier hearings, Jethmalani had called the will “very secretive,” noting oddities like the misspelling of one son’s name and an incorrect address for Sunjay’s daughter.

“These bloopers are very uncharacteristic of Sunjay Kapur,”

he had said, questioning the credibility of such a document.

Last week, the courtroom witnessed another dramatic moment when Jethmalani compared Priya Kapur to “Cinderella’s stepmother.” He accused her of greed and manipulation, claiming she took 60% of Sunjay’s assets, allocated 12% to her son, and stood to receive 75% of the family trust.

“She is only concerned with her personal assets,”

Jethmalani declared, in a statement that caused visible tension in the courtroom.
