Justice Harish Tandon from Calcutta High Court is recommended as Chief Justice of Orissa High Court. Collegium praises his competence, experience, and integrity.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court collegium recommended Justice Harish Tandon of the Calcutta High Court as the new Chief Justice of the Orissa High Court. This recommendation was announced on Thursday.
The decision to recommend Justice Tandon was made because Chief Justice Chakradhari Sharan Singh retired on January 19, 2024. Currently, Justice Arindam Sinha is serving as the acting Chief Justice of the Orissa High Court until a permanent appointment is made.
Justice Harish Tandon became a judge at the Calcutta High Court on April 13, 2010. He has served there continuously since then.
Justice Tandon holds the 7th position in the All-India seniority list of High Court judges. He is also the senior-most judge after the Chief Justice in the Calcutta High Court.
Before becoming a judge, Justice Tandon was a lawyer practicing mainly in civil matters at the Calcutta High Court.

The Supreme Court Collegium praised Justice Tandon’s qualities, saying,
“He has acquired extensive experience in dispensing justice. He is considered to be a competent judge and possesses a high level of integrity and conduct required of a person holding high judicial office.”
