The Central government has approved Justice Arun Palli’s elevation as Chief Justice of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh High Court. He replaces Justice Tashi Rabistan, who retired on April 9.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!NEW DELHI: The Central government approved the appointment of Justice Arun Palli, who is a judge in the Punjab and Haryana High Court, as the new Chief Justice of the Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh High Court.

Earlier, on April 4, the Supreme Court Collegium had recommended the name of Justice Arun Palli to be promoted as the Chief Justice of the High Court.
This recommendation came just a few days before the retirement of the current Chief Justice, Justice Tashi Rabistan, who retired on April 9. After that, from April 10, Justice Sanjeev Kumar started working as the Acting Chief Justice.
Justice Arun Palli was born on September 18, 1964. His father was also in the legal field and worked as a Senior Advocate. Later, his father became a judge in the Himachal Pradesh High Court.
Justice Arun Palli did his graduation in Commerce and then completed his law degree from Panjab University in Chandigarh in the year 1988. After completing his education, he started practicing law in the Punjab and Haryana High Court.
On September 1, 2004, he was appointed as the Additional Advocate General for the state of Punjab. He continued working in that position until March 2007.

Later, on April 26, 2007, he was given the title of Senior Advocate. During his legal career, Justice Palli also appeared in the Supreme Court, the Delhi High Court, and argued several important cases in the Himachal Pradesh High Court.
He was appointed as a judge in the Punjab and Haryana High Court on December 28, 2013.
Justice Arun Palli has also been working as the Executive Chairman of the Haryana State Legal Services Authority since May 31, 2023. Along with that, on October 31, 2023, he was nominated as a Member of the Governing Body of the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) for a term of two years.
