The announcement was made official through a statement published on the Supreme Court’s website.
The Collegium, in its meeting held on 6th October 2025, approved the proposal for Dwivedi’s elevation. This move comes shortly after the Central Government cleared the appointment of 24 new judges to the Allahabad High Court, reflecting continued efforts to strengthen the judicial system in India’s most populous state.
Currently, the Allahabad High Court is operating with 107 judges, significantly below its sanctioned strength of 160. The addition of new judges, including Vinai Kumar Dwivedi, is expected to alleviate the backlog of cases and improve the efficiency of judicial proceedings.
