The Jharkhand High Court imposed a fine of Rs 1.25 lakh on Union Minister Arjun Munda for failing to rectify errors in a petition

Ranchi: Recently, the Jharkhand High Court imposed a fine of Rs 1.25 lakh on Union Minister Arjun Munda for his failure to rectify errors found in a petition filed by him.

The petition was filed to challenge an FIR that named Munda and several prominent political figures, including former Chief Ministers Babulal Marandi and Raghubar Das, Chatra MP Sunil Kumar Singh, MLA Amit Mandal, Sameer Oraon, and MP Nishikant Dubey. The FIR was lodged in connection with an alleged altercation with the police during a march to the secretariat.

Justice Rajesh Kumar, presiding over the case, stated that the defects in the petition could be overlooked upon the payment of Rs 1.25 lakh. The fine is to be paid in favor of the Advocates’ Clerks Association of the Jharkhand High Court in Ranchi, as per the court’s directive.

“The identified defect(s) are disregarded upon payment of Rs. 1,25,000 to the Advocates’ Clerks Association of the Jharkhand High Court, Ranchi.”

During the court proceedings, Arjun Munda was represented by Advocate Prashant Pallav, while Government Advocate Manoj Kumar represented the State.

The High Court also issued an order stating that no coercive action would be taken against Arjun Munda until further notice. The next hearing on the matter is scheduled for May 8.
