Today, On 27th June, Andhra Pradesh High Court has granted interim relief to former CM Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy in a rally death case, observing, “Despite all precautions, accidents still happened even at the Kumbh Mela.”

The Andhra Pradesh High Court has given interim relief to former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy in connection with the death of a YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) supporter during his political rally.
While granting relief, the court noted,
“Despite all precautions, accidents still happened even at the Kumbh Mela.”
Earlier, YSRCP leader and former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has submitted a quash petition to the Andhra Pradesh High Court regarding the case linked to the death of Singayya.
Additionally, YSRCP Rajya Sabha MP Y.V. Subba Reddy, along with former ministers Perni Nani and Vidadala Rajini, has filed their own separate quash petitions.
Y.S. Jagan, his driver Ramana Reddy, Rajya Sabha MP Y.V. Subba Reddy, and former ministers Perni Nani and Vidadala Rajini were implicated in the circumstances surrounding Singayya’s death during Jagan’s visit to Rentapalla village in Palnadu district.
When news of Singayya’s death initially broke, Guntur SP Satish Kumar indicated that an unauthorized vehicle had struck the 53-year-old man.
The vehicle, a Tata Safari with the registration AP 26 CE 0001, was confiscated. However, the SP later amended his statement, announcing that a case had been filed against the YSRCP president based on new evidence.
A video reportedly showing Singayya being struck by Y.S. Jagan’s car while he greeted a large crowd subsequently emerged. Following this, the police designated Y.S. Jagan as Accused No. 2 (A2) in the case.
The former Chief Minister criticized the TDP government for its inadequate security measures during such a prominent visit.
