A high-level meeting concerning the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise held at the Calcutta High Court on Saturday afternoon, following directives from the Supreme Court, as reported by officials.
Presided over by Chief Justice Sujoy Paul, the meeting’s purpose is to create a framework for judicial oversight as required by the apex court.
This follows the Supreme Court’s order that the remaining phases of the SIR for electoral rolls be conducted under the supervision of judicial officers and former judges.

The CEO noted that the meeting would provide an opportunity for all stakeholders to share their points of view in order to resolve existing complexities and receive clear guidance on the next steps.
Expressing concern over the ongoing conflict between the West Bengal government and the Election Commission, the Supreme Court issued an “extraordinary” directive on Friday, calling for the deployment of serving and former district judges to support the election panel in the contentious special intensive revision of electoral rolls in the state.
