Uttar Pradesh: The Allahabad High Court on Friday (20th Sept) denied bail to former Uttar Pradesh minister Gayatri Prasad Prajapati, who is currently serving a life sentence for gang rape.
The Lucknow bench, comprising Justices Vivek Chaudhary and Mohd FA Khan, passed the order after reserving it on September 10, following the conclusion of arguments.

Prajapati, a former mining minister in the previous Samajwadi Party government, had sought bail while appealing his conviction. He was arrested in March 2017, following a Supreme Court directive, over allegations of gang-raping a woman and attempting to assault her minor daughter.
The case, filed in February 2017, also involved six others under charges of gang rape, criminal intimidation, and sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
In November 2021, Prajapati and two co-accused were sentenced to life imprisonment, while the remaining defendants were acquitted due to insufficient evidence.
