Gujarat High Court Calls for Transfer of Kejriwal’s Plea in PM Modi’s Degree Controversy

In a significant move, the Gujarat High Court has issued a directive to the Principal Sessions Judge at the Ahmedabad City Civil Court. The order specifically calls for the transfer of the revision application that was filed by Delhi’s Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal. This application pertains to the summons that were issued to Kejriwal in connection with the defamation case initiated by Gujarat University. The core of the dispute revolves around the academic qualifications of India’s Prime Minister, Narendra Modi.

The exact directive from the Gujarat High Court reads:

“The Gujarat High Court on Tuesday directed the Principal Sessions Judge at the Ahmedabad City Civil Court to transfer the revision application filed by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal against the summons issued to him in Gujarat University’s defamation case over the academic degree of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, to a different court.”

This decision by the Gujarat High Court emphasizes the heightened attention and sensitivity that the case has garnered, given its implications on the academic credentials of the country’s Prime Minister. The move to transfer Kejriwal’s plea to a different court suggests an intent to ensure a fair and unbiased review of the matter.
