The Allahabad High Court has rejected a petition seeking a criminal case against Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya over alleged fake degree claims. The court cited lack of merit after Supreme Court had earlier allowed delayed filing.
Prayagraj: Today, on July 7, the Allahabad High Court has rejected a petition that asked for a criminal case to be registered against Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya.
The allegations were that he used a fake educational degree to contest elections and also to get a petrol pump dealership.
Justice Sanjay Kumar Singh of the Allahabad High Court dismissed the criminal revision petition filed by Diwaker Nath Tripathi.
Earlier, Tripathi had gone to a magistrate’s court with a plea asking for an FIR (First Information Report) to be registered against Keshav Prasad Maurya. However, the magistrate’s court had rejected that plea.
Tripathi then challenged that order in the high court, but his revision petition was filed after a delay of more than 300 days. In February 2024, the Allahabad High Court dismissed his plea on the grounds of this delay.

The high court noted that the petition had been filed too late after the lower court’s order and thus could not be entertained.
Later, in January 2024, the Supreme Court stepped in and allowed the delay to be excused. The top court asked the Allahabad High Court to hear the case properly and decide it based on its merits.
The Supreme Court said that the delay should not come in the way of justice and that the matter should be heard fully.
Following the Supreme Court’s order, Tripathi again approached the Allahabad High Court. He filed a fresh revision petition raising the same allegations.
The case was then heard again, and the high court reserved its verdict on May 23 after listening to the arguments presented by both sides.
Finally, on Monday, July 7, Justice Sanjay Kumar Singh delivered the verdict and dismissed Tripathi’s plea once again.
