The Delhi High Court has instructed the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports and the Government of India to submit all documents related to the recognition granted to the IPA, seeking full transparency in the matter.
New Delhi: During hearing before the Delhi High Court regarding the case of the All India Pickleball Association (AIPA) versus the Government of India (GOI) and the newly formed Indian Pickleball Association (IPA), the GOI submitted its counter affidavit, as reported by AIPA.
The GOI requested additional time to formally submit their counter-affidavit; however, the Court instructed the GOI to provide the complete file regarding the formation and recognition process of the disputed organization.
The GOI also informed the Court about a new intervener, the New Indian Pickleball Association (also known as the Indian Pickleball Association or NIPA), a Bangalore-based entity established in 2021.
NIPA had merged with AIPA last year and is now challenging the legitimacy of the newly established IPA, claiming unauthorized use of its name, credentials, and legacy.
Recognizing the significance of these developments, the Court highlighted the necessity for clarity and transparency in the proceedings, scheduling the next hearing for May 23, 2025.
The All India Pickleball Association (AIPA) asserts that any efforts to bypass due process or undermine the legitimate functioning of the sport’s ecosystem must be examined in accordance with the law.
AIPA expresses its complete faith in the Indian judiciary, believing that the rule of law will uphold the integrity and governance of Pickleball in India.
The AIPA remains committed to the principles of fair play, sportsmanship, and clean sports governance, urging the Ministry to promptly review and rectify the decision in the best interest of Pickleball and the Indian sporting community.
