Rashid has been in jail since 2019 and is facing trial under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) in connection with a 2017 terror funding case. He had challenged a March 10 trial court order that had denied him custody parole or interim bail to attend Lok Sabha proceedings until April 4.

New Delhi, March 26: The Delhi High Court has permitted Jammu and Kashmir MP Abdul Rashid Sheikh, who is in jail for a terror funding case, to attend the ongoing Parliament session under police escort.
A bench of Justices Chandra Dhari Singh and Anup Jairam Bhambhani ruled that Rashid, also known as Engineer Rashid, will be taken to Parliament by the police and brought back to jail each day from March 26 to April 4. The court specified that during this period, he will not be allowed to use a mobile phone, landline, or speak to the media.
The court’s decision allows Rashid to take part in parliamentary discussions while remaining under police supervision. The ruling balances his rights as an elected representative with the legal restrictions due to his ongoing trial.
The bench clearly stated that Rashid will not have access to any communication devices and will not be permitted to speak to journalists while outside jail.
Background
Rashid was arrested by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in 2019 over allegations of funding terrorist activities in Jammu and Kashmir. The case is linked to terror funding investigations that began in 2017, targeting individuals accused of providing financial support to separatist groups.
Earlier this month, a trial court rejected Rashid’s request for temporary release, leading him to approach the Delhi High Court, which has now allowed him to attend Parliament while remaining in custody.
