Today (March 27), the Delhi High Court is scheduled to review a plea from Arvind Kejriwal challenging his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) related to allegations of an excise policy scam. Kejriwal, the Chief Minister of Delhi and leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), contests the legality of his detention, seeking immediate release.

NEW DELHI: Today (March 27): The Delhi High Court is scheduled to hear the petition by Delhi’s Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal, against his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) over the Delhi excise policy scam. Kejriwal argues that his arrest was unlawful and is asking to be released soon.

The case will be heard by Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma at 10.30 am.
Kejriwal, who leads the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), was arrested by the ED on March 21, and his custody was extended until March 28. He was arrested following allegations of corruption linked to the liquor policy for 2021–22.

Kejriwal filed his petition before the Delhi High Court, seeking an urgent hearing. but there was a delay because the court was closed for the Holi festival. Later attempts to get relief were unsuccessful, and the court decided he should remain in ED custody for more questioning.
Kejriwal has been vocal about his opposition to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and claims that the ED is being used against him unfairly. The controversy centers on accusations that the AAP was involved in corrupt practices in the liquor policy, which led to financial benefits for some people.

Other top AAP members like Manish Sisodia, Sanjay Singh, and BRS leader K Kavitha are also associated with the liquor policy scam.
The Enforcement Directorate’s chargesheets mentioned Kejriwal’s involvement, alleging that he is involved in the excise policy, which purportedly led to unauthorized advantages in exchange for bribes directed towards the AAP.
