For the Delhi High Court Bar Association (DHCBA), the Court directed that all formalities related to the process must be completed by January 10, 2025. It also instructed that the Election Commission be formed immediately after the closure of the scrutiny process.

NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court has scheduled the elections for various bar associations in the national capital on February 7, 2025, as per its order.
A Bench comprising Justices Yashwant Varma, Rekha Palli, and C Hari Shankar issued the decision with the agreement of counsels representing different bar bodies in Delhi.
The Court stated, “The elections to all Bar Associations in Delhi shall consequently now be held on February 7, 2025, subject to any legal restraint or impediment impeding that process.”
The date was chosen after considering the necessary preparatory steps to ensure the elections are conducted efficiently.

Earlier in March, the High Court had ruled that the elections for all bar associations in Delhi should be held simultaneously on the same day. It had initially set October 19, 2024, as the election date, but the election was deferred on October 1 due to a pending case before the Supreme Court, following an application by the DHCBA Secretary.

On December 17, the Supreme Court clarified that there was no interim stay on the elections, prompting the High Court to set the new election date for February.
The Bar Council of Delhi was represented by Advocates T Singhdev, Tanishque Srivastava, Abhijit Chakravarty, Bhanu Gulati, Aneem Hussain, Sourabh Kumar, Yamini Singh, and Ajay Kumar Aggarwal. The Delhi High Court Bar Association was represented by Senior Advocates Kirti Uppal, Mohit Mathur, Jatan Singh, Sandeep Sharma, Amit Chadha, Sanjay Dewan, alongside several other advocates.
Advocate Ajit Kakkar appeared for the Armed Forces Tribunal Bar Association (AFTBA), while Advocates Chaman Kumar Gupta, Kundan Lal Gupta, Manish Gupta, and Karan Sharma represented the Delhi Tax Bar Association, and Advocates Sanjay Sharma and Rakesh Kumar appeared for the Sales Tax Bar Association.
