NEW DELHI: Today(on 16th May), The Delhi High Court issued a notice to Delhi Police regarding the interim bail plea of Pradeep Ramdanee, co-accused alongside alleged conman Sukesh Chandrashekhar in a high-profile case involving Rs 200 crore extortion and cheating. This case, initiated by the Economic Offences Wing in 2021, has garnered significant attention due to its complexity and the notable individuals involved.
Justice Jyoti Singh, presiding over the matter, issued the notice and requested a response from Delhi Police. The case is set for a further hearing on May 30.
Ramdanee, represented by advocate Anant Malik, is seeking interim bail for a period of 90 days. He has been in judicial custody for approximately two years and eight months. Notably, the order on his regular bail application has been reserved since April 10 by the trial court, and despite the passage of time, this order has yet to be pronounced.

The application for interim bail has been prompted by Ramdanee’s deteriorating health condition. His legal representation highlighted several medical issues, including diabetes, an enlarged prostate, cataracts, heart problems, and other age-related ailments. Recently, he has also been diagnosed with tuberculosis, a condition that has led to significant weight loss, from around 90 kg to as low as 62 kg.
In the bail application, it was emphasized that-
“The accused, held in custody for about 2 years and 8 months, is suffering from deteriorating physical and mental health due to a diagnosis of TB. Compounded by diabetes, he requires proper diet and care, which are lacking in the jail.”
Despite these pressing health concerns, Ramdanee’s earlier plea for interim bail, also for 90 days, was dismissed by the trial court on April 12. His advocate, Anant Malik, reiterated the severity of Ramdanee’s health issues and the inadequacy of the medical care available in the jail, stating-
“Due to the applicant’s poor health, this current application has been submitted.”
