Delhi High Court Announces Extra Holidays On March 2, 3 & 7, 2026: Check Updated Sitting Dates

The Delhi High Court issued a February 27, 2026 notification announcing closures on March 2, 3, and 7. Subordinate courts will also shut on March 2 and 3, with March 14 and April 11 declared working Saturdays to compensate.

NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court has released a schedule for holidays and court sittings for March and April 2026, as indicated in an official notification dated February 27, 2026. The High Court will be closed on March 2 (Monday), March 3 (Tuesday), and March 7, 2026 (Saturday).

The closure will also apply to the subordinate courts functioning under its jurisdiction on March 2 and 3. To offset these holidays, March 14 and April 11, 2026 both second Saturdays have been designated as working days for subordinate courts.

As per the announcement, the High Court will remain closed on March 2 (Monday), March 3 (Tuesday), and March 7 (Saturday), 2026.

Alternative Court Sitting Days:

To offset the closures on March 2 and March 3, the Delhi High Court has designated Saturday, March 28, 2026, and Saturday, April 25, 2026, as court sitting days. These dates will serve as regular working days to ensure that judicial operations continue smoothly.

The notification stated:

“The cases fixed for Monday, the 2nd of March 2026, Tuesday, the 3rd of March 2026, and Saturday, the 7th of March 2026, in this Court will be taken up on Saturday, the 28th of March 2026; Saturday, the 25th of April, 2026, and Monday, the 9th of March 2026, respectively.”

Revised Hearing Dates for Scheduled Cases:

The High Court has updated the hearing dates for cases originally set for the newly declared holidays:

  • Cases listed for Monday, March 2, 2026, will now be heard on Saturday, March 28, 2026.
  • Cases listed for Tuesday, March 3, 2026, will be rescheduled for Saturday, April 25, 2026.
  • Cases set for Saturday, March 7, 2026, will be taken up on Monday, March 9, 2026.

Subordinate Courts to Remain Closed on March 2 and 3:

This notification also affects the courts subordinate to the Delhi High Court, which will be closed on March 2 and March 3, 2026.

Revised Working Saturdays for Subordinate Courts:

To compensate for the lost working days, the High Court has declared the second Saturday, March 14, 2026, and the second Saturday, April 11, 2026, as court sitting days for subordinate courts.
