Vacations

  • Summer Vacation – 1 June to 30 June (Monday to Tuesday): 30 days
  • Winter Vacation – 26 December to 31 December (Saturday to Thursday): 6 days

Thus, the High Court will remain closed for 36 vacation days in addition to regular holidays.

Sundays & Second Saturdays

  • All Sundays (52 days) are non-working.
  • All second Saturdays (12 days) are non-working.

However, there are special working Saturdays:

  • 25 July, 26 September, and 28 November will be court sitting days.
  • 4 July & 5 December are reserved as alternative court days (if needed).

Total Working Days

The calculation:

  • Total days in a year = 366 (2026 is a leap year).
  • Sundays = 52
  • Second Saturdays = 12
  • Gazetted + Local Holidays = 34
  • Vacations (Summer + Winter) = 36

Total Non-working Days = 134

Working Days = 366 – 134 = 232

So, the Delhi High Court will function for 232 working days in 2026.

Delhi High Court in 2026 will have 232 working days, with 134 non-working days including holidays, Sundays, second Saturdays, and vacations.

For lawyers, litigants, and court staff, the release of the Delhi High Court calendar is extremely useful as it helps in effective case planning and filing strategy. By knowing the exact number of holidays and vacations in advance, they can avoid scheduling conflicts, especially around long breaks like summer and winter vacations. It also ensures clarity regarding the effective working days in the judicial calendar, allowing all stakeholders to manage their time and legal proceedings more efficiently.
