The Delhi High Court granted permission to Ashneer Grover and Madhuri Jain Grover to travel abroad. The court’s decision came after reviewing their application and the conditions proposed. This ruling provides temporary relief for the couple amidst ongoing legal proceedings. The specifics of their travel permissions were not disclosed.

New Delhi: The Delhi High Court, On Wednesday, permitted businessman Ashneer Grover and his wife Madhuri Jain Grover to travel to the United States.

Justice Subramonium Prasad ruled that Ashneer Grover can visit the US from May 26 to June 12, and after his return, his wife Madhuri Grover can travel there from June 15.

The Court also directed the Delhi Police to submit their recommendations in writing on the conditions that should be imposed on the Grovers to ensure they return to India.

Justice Prasad stated,

“Should you provide the conditions by Friday, they will be incorporated into the order,”

The Court’s order allowing the Grovers to travel to the US, made while considering their application in their already pending plea. This plea, challenged the Look Out Circular (LoC) issued against them by the Delhi Police’s Economic Offences Wing (EOW).

The plea by the Delhi Police met with opposition, contending that Madhuri Grover’s cooperation in the investigation is lacking.

The counsel representing the Delhi Police, argued,

“We are currently in the process of investigation. Despite our efforts, Mrs. Grover has not been forthcoming in her cooperation. She cites privilege and privacy, attempting to obstruct the investigation. However, we aim to conclude the investigation within two months,”

Furthermore, the Police highlighted that the Grovers possess a golden visa for the UAE and hold assets in foreign jurisdictions.

The Police emphasized,

“There is concern that Mr. Grover may attempt to dissipate the assets abroad. Their responses have been evasive. It’s important to note that the situation is not dire if they choose not to travel there,”

In a recent court appearance, Advocate Giriraj Subramanium represented the Grover couple, stating that they want to travel to the United States. When the court insisted that at least one of them remain in India.

The Grovers left BharatPe in early 2022, and in December 2022, the company filed a complaint against the couple. Subsequently, in May 2023, the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Delhi Police registered an FIR (First Information Report) against the Grovers, alleging offences of cheating, criminal breach of trust, forgery, and criminal conspiracy under the Indian Penal Code.
